51 anni senza Jim: “The Celebration of the Lizard”

3 luglio 1971 – Jim Morrison muore a 27 anni a Parigi/quartiere di Le Marais, al n. 17 di Rue de Beautreillis, nell’appartamento in cui alloggiava da due mesi con Pamela.

Il suo corpo venne trovato privo di vita nella vasca da bagno dalla sua compagna, ma della sua morte non fu data notizia al mondo fino al 9 luglio.

Morrison fu tumulato la mattina del 7 luglio presso il “cimitero degli artisti” di Père Lachaise nella capitale francese.

Durante il rito funebre, Pamela recitò i versi finali di The Celebration of the Lizard, una “performance piece” scritta da Morrison su musica dei Doors: composta da una serie di poesie, include sia versi parlati che parti cantate, sezioni musicali e passaggi di narrazione allegorica.
