Il 31 maggio del 1994 i Beastie Boys pubblicavano il loro quarto album in studio Ill Communication.

Le vendite di Ill Communication furono trainate dal singolo Sabotage, nel cui videoclip, diretto da Spike Jonze, i Beastie Boys impersonano in alcune scene dei poliziotti ed in altre dei ladri, inscenando inseguimenti da telefilm poliziesco anni ’70 tipo Starsky & Hutch.
